Statistics and analysis to help understand and track the economic impacts of the cost of living on residents in Southampton. Below are two time series Power BI dashboards illustrating the change in the percentage of the working age population claiming Universal Credit and Job Seekers Allowance claimants, the first runs from July 2021 to August 2025. The second runs from January 2026 to present, the second dashboard has been updated to use 2021 geographies, the IMD2025 and the Office for National Statistics 2024 population base.

Benefits dashboard from 2026 onwards
This dashboard presents key information about Southampton residents including charts and maps showing benefit claimant changes. Universal Credit and Claimant count (Job Seekers Allowance) data has been updated to 2021 geographies and IMD 2025 deprivation. The population used from January 2026 is the Office for National Statistics - Mid Year Population Estimates for 2024.

This dashboard shows information about Southampton residents through maps showing benefit claimant changes. Covering Universal Credit claimants and people claiming Job Seeker's Allowance (JSA) know as the claimant count. The data runs from 2020 to 2025.
