It is important that data and information provided on the coronavirus outbreak is timely, accurate and interpreted in line with changes to policy and recording. Therefore, a coronavirus infographic report was published weekly on this page to help inform members of the public of the current coronavirus situation in Southampton. The report summarised some of the key information published by the government, Public Health England and other agencies to monitor the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic both nationally and locally in Southampton.

The report contains information on the number of coronavirus cases, the rate of cases among the resident population, coronavirus related deaths, including where people have died and the number of people reporting coronavirus symptoms through NHS Pathways (for example, 999 calls, 111 calls and 111 online). Links to the data used in the report can be found in the resources section below.

  • ONS - Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Survey - percentage of people testing positive for coronavirus (COVID-19) in private residential households in England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland, including regional and age breakdowns

There are a range of additional resources on the coronavirus outbreak in the city on the Southampton Data Observatory including coronavirus resident’s surveys and work on identifying the most vulnerable communities as a result of COVID-19. In addition, the latest local advice on the coronavirus outbreak is available on the Southampton City Council website.

Dataset

NHS England – Coronavirus daily deaths in hospital

Contains information on deaths of patients who have died in hospitals in England and had either tested positive for COVID-19 or where COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate. Data is published down to Hospital Trust. Now discontinued, since March 2023.
